The origin of the name “Papa & Barkley” comes from the relationship between the company’s founder, Adam Grossman, and his father and pet dog Barkley. The company was created when Adam sought to find a solution for his father’s chronic back pain. He experimented with cannabis and a crockpot and produced the first version of the popular product Releaf Balm.
This balm was successful in reducing his father’s pain and allowed him to leave hospice care and become more active. Adam then shared this balm with others and received positive feedback, leading him to decide to share his product with the public and name it in honor of his father and pet, with an image of them on the package.
